When I look back on the things I wore as a child, ponchos and capris and gauchos come to mind. Yes, that means I’m a certifiable millennial. But it also means I’m now part of the age group that has witnessed fashion trends come around again.
If you’ve been paying attention, you’ve likely seen a ton of 90s and Y2K trends coming back with Gen Z. And we love to see it! Gen Z has really embraced thrifting and making those older styles cool once again.
Which brings me to the poncho! If you’re a millennial, chances are you had a poncho at some point! I remember having a few during my youth, and I absolutely loved them. That is, until they weren’t cool anymore! But guess what? Your younger self would probably be screaming because ponchos are cool once again!
I thrifted this super cool color-blocked poncho a couple months ago, and I am truly living for it! It’s the perfect addition to a grunge girl’s wardrobe, and is both timeless and timely. I styled it with this black pleated skort and knee-high boots for a more upscale soft grunge vibe.

What’s Not to Love?
Color-Block Poncho: This asymmetrical poncho is such a vibe, and I was thrilled to find it while thrifting! All the best finds are. But fear not, if you’re into the poncho vibe like I think you might be, there are lots of options! You can find great ponchos linked here!
Black Pleated Skort: A great skort like this can be used to play pickleball just as much as it can be worn out to dinner on a Saturday night. I’m a big fan of fashion that is versatile, and lots of active wear is becoming that way! Shop great pleated skort options, you won’t regret it!
Black Knee-High Boots: These boots are from Steve Madden, and they’re such a great pair of knee-high boots. The style is so cute, but they’re also very comfortable. I’m a fan of a low enough heel that I feel I can walk in, and these are just that! Steve Madden sells these in regular and wide calf, but I highly recommend the wide-calf option for most people.
