Take Your Mainstream Spring Dress & Grunge it Up

This spring dress is your average maxi dress that you would find in a lot of department stores this time of year. In fact, the one I’m wearing is from Target. But that doesn’t mean you can’t grunge it up!

While I never got rid of this dress, I never found myself reaching for it during the warmer months. However, I decided it’s the perfect spring dress and I could make it edgier if I wanted to.

And here we are, a grunged up version of a spring outfit! A good waist belt is a game changer, literally. Even without the cream button-down shirt, the waist belt makes the outfit a bit edgier and also feels more flattering.

Depending on how warm it is this spring, you could wear more or less of the cream shirt. Pull it up and above the waist belt and it could be more off the shoulder. But if it’s cooler? Wear it as shown pulled down!

I love how the shirt adds a bit of dimension to the fit as well. It takes it up a notch while still remaining a casual spring look, complete with black combat boots to tie it together.

Would you spice up your spring dress like this? Tell me if you would wear this in the comments!

As mentioned above, this dress is from Target but is several years old. They don’t sell this style anymore, but there’s other great spring dresses to choose from!

Cream Button-Down Shirt

I actually got this shirt at a garage sale, and I was so happy with that find! You can shop other cute cream shirts at the links below.

Black Waist/Cinch Belt

The one I’m wearing was thrifted, and it’s been one of the best thrifts as far as accessories go! If you need a sign to get one, let this be it! I’ve selected other great waist belts I’m loving for your shopping needs.

Black Chunky Combat Boots

My combat boots are well-loved, and I wear them so much! This pair of boots is an old one from ASOS and isn’t sold anymore. However, I’ve picked out other great boot options below!
