Hello, 2026! It’s a new year but grunge is here to stay. What makes grunge a fun style concept is that you can really get fun and funky with it. Wear a skirt over ripped jeans if you want! There are no rules! In fact, really the only style rules in grunge are to break them.
Speaking of breaking the rules, let’s talk wrinkles. Wrinkles are seen as taboo. Growing up, one of the worst things I could do was show up with wrinkles in my clothes. While that may be the case attending a classy event, wrinkles are embraced in grunge. It’s edgy and messy, and absolutely a whole vibe that just screams anti-establishment. It’s a vibe you can lean into this year.
Another vibe you can lean into in 2026 are layers. If you’ve been here before you’ll find lots of outfit inspiration full of layers on my blog. But if you really want to maximize your closet this year, consider what you can do by layering. You can do something simple like this outfit, where I’m just layering t-shirt, flannel, and then bomber jacket.
Layering doesn’t have to be complicated. Creating a cool and interesting outfit comes from trying new things and seeing if they work together. It also helps to have some inspiration, which is where I come in! Hopefully, I can do some of the heavy lifting for you!

Layer Me Up
Tan Wide-Leg Pants: Wide-leg and baggy pants are just a whole look, and it’s one of my favorite styles. These in particular I purchased from American Eagle a couple of years ago, however they no longer make this style. If you’re looking for something similar, I’ve put together a few different options.
Lana del Rey T-Shirt: You won’t be able to find this exact t-shirt, as I bought it at Hinterland festival this past summer. However, you can find a couple of cute Lana merch on Etsy!
Flannel Shirt: Can you go wrong with flannel? The answer is no. The flannel I’m wearing is thrifted, but I’ve linked other great options!
Letterman/Varsity Jacket: I love the look of a letterman/varsity jacket and I wish I would’ve gotten one from my high school. So if you’re like me and you have been wanting to rock the style, peruse the jackets here.
Chunky Sneakers: These are from Steve Madden, my go-to brand for shoes! They haven’t let me down yet, plus they’re just hella cute!
Light Brown Beanie: The Carhartt beanie is a must-have, and while this was a gift, you can find this exact one here.
