This time of year is all about pastels and florals. While there’s nothing wrong with either, they probably aren’t your vibe if you’re a grunge girl! The darker, moodier vibes likely speak to you more, but that doesn’t mean you can’t embrace the season.
Transitioning from winter to spring always feels a lot more chaotic to me than transitioning from summer to fall or fall to winter. The weather is always a bit on the wild side and can’t really seem to decide what temperature to stick with!
This makes it difficult to know what to wear in the spring, especially when being in the sun versus the shade makes a world of difference. I’m always a proponent of layers, but especially right now!
Tell me more
Keep your grunge spirit alive by pairing a winter item with a traditionally spring or summer item. In this outfit, I’m wearing an oversize grungy sweater (that I’m obsessed with!) over a pleated black skort. The sweater keeps me warm on top but leaves my legs bare to soak up the hopefully warmer temps.
I typically prefer this combo since my arms get colder faster than my legs do. For the shoes I kept it casual with beige chucks, for a sort of “girl next door” vibe! It’s playful and fun while still staying true to your grunge roots.

Black/Beige Grunge Sweater
This is the absolutely grungiest sweater that I recently thrifted! I haven’t been able to find sweaters matching this vibe to a T, but I’ve collected some grunge sweaters you might also love!
Black Pleated Skort
I love a good skort, and it’s a must-have year-round but especially as we get into warmer weather! Mine was gifted to me by a friend, but links are below for similar options!
Chucks & Socks
Who doesn’t love a good pair of Converse?! This pair is a custom color, but it’s the Chuck Taylor All Star Lift Platform. I’ve shared other cute sneaker options, as well as sock options, below!
