Surviving the winter in style is all about knowing how to layer. It’s the essence of The Grunge Girl, and I wouldn’t want it any other way! Layering takes the feeling of “I don’t have anything to wear!” to “Omg this is SO cute!”
So what do I mean when I say executing the soft grunge style in winter is easier than you think? It’s this. Using what you already have in your closet. Contrary to what you might think or be told on social media, no, you don’t need a ton of new clothes all the time to look cute af.
Take it from me! I thrift 2-3 times a month with varying degrees of success, so I’m not buying lots of new clothes to create these looks! My soft grunge style formula for the winter is this: basics + statement + accents.
My basics for this look are my black turtleneck and wide-leg jeans. They’re both black and acting as a base for my statement piece, which is my Taylor Swift Eras Tour brown t-shirt. The accents? My brown Docs and my dainty gold jewelry.
It’s not a complex look, but it utilizes the clothes in a way that makes it interesting but still gives off a grunge/alt vibe. So when you think about styling your looks in the winter think about what clothes you have that can be layered over one another, and go from there!
