When you’re going for a casual look, it can often be challenging to come up with something new. Basics are basics for a reason, and we lean heavily on them when going for a casual vibe. It doesn’t always have to be that way, though! A casual look can be just as fun with something as simple as layering!
Layering is truly a grunge babe’s best friend. One could say that is a staple of grunge styling–to layer is to grunge! That’s why we’re head over heels (cheesy, yes, I know!) for this casual layered look. I took this muted sage linen button-down and added a cropped and fitted vest situation to it. I only buttoned the few buttons in the middle where the shirt meets the vest for a carefree feel. Leaving the top unbuttoned all the way down to the vest adds a bit of sexiness, too!
Once I put these two pieces together I was instantly in love! You could do this with several different pieces for different layered looks, like a corset, harness, or full-length vest! It can be really fun and freeing to get creative with your layering, so I say go all-in! You never know what you’ll be able to put together with what you already have in your closet.
This is something you could easily dress up or down. Because I was feeling the casual look, I paired it with my high-rise ripped denim jeans (which I truly can’t get enough of!) and my chunky sneakers. Dress it up with a mini or pencil skirt and chunky loafers or go for combat boots for more of a grunge feel!
