I love this look so much, mostly because it takes two unlikely clothing pieces and mashes them together for a unique look! This is the coolest thing about style—you don’t have to have all of these expensive clothes to look great—you just have to think outside the box a little!
And thinking outside the box we are! The bottom, which appears as a skirt, is actually a full dress with spaghetti straps. Truthfully, I bought this dress years ago to go underneath a sheer sparkly dress, but it never looked quite right. It’s a flattering black dress, it’s just well, basic. Every time I reached for it, I found myself putting it back on the hanger.
Enter the satin scarf. Can we take a moment for scarves? They’re so versatile it’s incredible! The satin scarf I’m wearing has seen its days on my head, as a belt, as an accessory, and now, as a top! When I had the idea to throw these two together, I wasn’t quite sure how it would look or how it would work with the spaghetti straps on the dress. But my oh my, it worked!
I tucked in the straps on the inside of the dress and once I tied the satin scarf over the top, you would never know it didn’t belong this way! This is such a fun look and I will most definitely be coming back to this one again and again!
