There’s nothing I love more than breaking convention. You could say it’s in my DNA! Or maybe that’s just a creative thing. You have to break the mold or to let everything you thought you were supposed to be slip away in order to create art. Because that’s what fashion and style is–a form of art.
To be perfectly honest, I feel like art in this outfit. I took a mini velvet dress that I thought I would love and didn’t, and turned it into something I DO love! Creating outfits is all about experimenting and finding your style. Too often, we’re so afraid of what people will think if we wear something even slightly “different.”
People may say, “You can’t wear a dress over jeans.” And to them I smile and wave rocking my super awesome edgy fun fit. Who cares what anyone thinks? It can be hard to let go of that, but in the end all that matters is how you feel. If it makes you feel good, wear it! That’s my philosophy.
Once I decided to try this dress over my ripped baggy jeans, I was sold. While I originally bought this dress thinking of wearing it for a night out like NYE, I just didn’t love how it fit on me. But over jeans? It gives me a whole new confidence that I didn’t have wearing the dress on its own. The cherry on top? This ultra-cute beaded purse that I thrifted (plus my tried-and-true combat boots).
