There’s something about this time of year that brings out the preppy grunge, or the dark academia, in me! I love a fit that feels edgy, but that I could wear to the office or pretend I’m on a university campus. It happens every year without fail, and I know I’m not the only one!
This look is chic yet alternative, with a black long-sleeve crop top over a white button-down shirt. I loved pairing these two together, because it creates more of a unique look with a cropped shirt over a full-length shirt. It definitely gives off an artsy, unconventional vibe that I’m all about!
I added my grey wide-leg slacks to the mix and my go-to chunky sneakers (that I truly cannot live without!). For a pop of color, I added a cute little red purse and put on red lipstick. Did I mention it’s a comfortable outfit, too? Comfy yet cute outfits are everything, amiright??
What I’m Wearing
Black Long-Sleeve Crop Top: This is a great basic crop top to have, especially in the colder months! With it being black, there are so many ways to layer a top like this. I love that this one is ribbed and it’s also a turtleneck, which comes in clutch when it’s freezing out! While I found this exact top at a local clothing store, you can find similar styles here.
White Button-Down Shirt: Hello, the classic and chic shirt that will never go out of style! Need I go on more? Yes, even a grunge girl needs a white button-down in her closet. Thrifted but from Uniqlo, you can find it here!
Grey Wide-Leg Pants: Sometimes people underestimate how fun and comfortable dress-style pants can be! We prioritize looking cute and comfy around here, and these grey wide-leg pants are no different. Although I bought these from ASOS years ago, there are other great pant options linked.
Chunky Sneakers: I love the look of an upscale outfit that’s made more casual with sneakers. This is a trend that I have come to know and love and frankly, I hope never goes away! It can be so fun and again, comfy, to create an outfit with a solid sneaker in mind. My chunky sneakers are from Steve Madden and if they caught your eye, you can find them here.
Red Purse: This red purse is one of those great thrift store finds that you weren’t looking for, but once you see it you have to have it. As soon as I saw it, I was in love! It’s definitely a statement bag, albeit a small one. I’m not as much into purses as I am other clothing and accessories, but I know what I love when I see it!
