Step out this spring wearing your spring best-that is, bold and colorful patterns! When you think of bold and color, you likely don’t think of grunge or dark academia. But this outfit proves otherwise!
This top feels wrong on so many levels, and yet it’s perfection. It’s sort of an obnoxious square repeating pattern, paired with lime green and light pink. It sounds like a nightmare of a top! Yet somehow, the combination just works and makes for an interesting and bold top.
I thrifted this eccentric top, and I nearly put it back before leaving the store. And thank goodness I didn’t! It’s become an overnight favorite, for sure! With a statement top such as this, I do recommend pairing it with other more neutral colors like you see me do. The rest of the outfit being all black continues to make the outfit unique and interesting without taking away from the bold and colorful top.
Some people think it doesn’t matter, you can mix colors and patterns to your heart’s content. And to this I say, YES. Play with colors and patterns. See what works for you. Pairing a statement top with neutrals is sort of a personal preference because I like the way that my statement pieces pop. However, it’s not a hard and fast rule even for me, and I always think you should do what feels most like you!
Don’t shy form the bold and colorful, own it! Sometimes crazy patterns and colors can surprise you, so why not give them a chance? Make a grunge academia look your own!
