Dress Up Your Flannel in a Feminine Edgy Fit

Ah, the flannel shirt. Fall’s favorite article of clothing that comes back every year! If you’re a grunge lover like myself, flannel’s a favorite year-round. Your flannel shirts may feel rather one dimensional, though. Flannel shirts are paired with short or long sleeved shirts and ripped jeans. Sound about right? While a classic look, there’s more to be explored here!

Up your flannel shirt game by pairing it with something less casual, like a short or long skirt! The grunginess of the flannel mixed with something that’s typically more of dressed up can give you a fit that’s both edgy and feminine. I frankly love mixing these two styles together–it’s my sweet spot!

To take things even further, play around with fun accessories you may have, like belts and scarves and ties. Your jewelry goes a long way, too! I added a waist belt to give myself more of a flattering cinched waist aesthetic, but then styled it with combat boots to keep it edgy.

Let’s Keep It Going, Shall We?

Flannel Shirt: Chances are, you’ve got a flannel shirt! A grunge babe’s always got to have a flannel shirt to throw on at all times IMO. The one I’m wearing is thrifted, but if you’re in the market for a great flannel shirt, I’ve selected a few for your shopping needs.

Black Waist Belt: I’ve really come to love a good waist belt. There are times when you’re going for a great baggy fit, but other times a cinched waist pulls an outfit together. This is one of those times! And it’s a must-have accessory in my closet. Is it a must-have for you? If so, shop some of my favorites here!

Black Ribbed Midi Skirt: A plain black midi skirt such as this is a skirt that can be worn year-round, as well as styled up or down! It’s a classic piece to have especially when you’re not in the mood to wear pants or a dress. Having a black skirt or other neutral color allows you to go for more statement tops, and who doesn’t love statement tops?! I’m obviously a fan of getting good basics, so shop some black midi skirt options here (you’ll thank me later).

Black Combat Boots: You’ve seen them dressed down and now you’ve seen them dressed up! The combat boot never goes out of style and I often feel like it brings the whole vibe of an outfit on its own. Forever living in my combat boots and if you’re anything like me, you’ll need a pair! You can shop similar combat boot styles on my LTK.
