A Layered Retro Look Built to Break the Rules

Here at The Grunge Girl, we’re all about breaking the rules. Who wants to color within the lines when there’s so much potential outside of them?! Your outfits are the same way. We’re often stuck and confined by social norms and trends when it comes to our clothes, but I’m here to say, it’s time to break them!

If you’re here and loving my blog, you may have already gotten a taste of what that looks like. To me, grunge means rebelling against norms, so we’re already halfway there. Wearing my black halter bralette as my top, and letting it take center stage, feels rebellious to me.

A bralette or bra is viewed as something you cover up, and is supposed to be discreet and unseen. I took that norm and threw it out the window. What did I get? A layered outfit that shows off my bralette in an interesting way. Leaving everything undone and unbuttoned gives off a casual anti feel, and I couldn’t love it more. Add to that my olive green corduroy pants and tan converse and I’ve got a match made in grunge heaven.
