Your 30s Doesn’t Mean Giving Up Your Unique Style

Giving up your unique style in your 30s?! Don’t be ridiculous! Heck, do we even fully know what our style is yet? Your 30s are all about coming into your own, but there’s still so much growth happening.

Take it from me, your resident Grunge Girl. I never really knew what my style was in my 20s. But even so, I had found things over the years I loved. Like wide-leg jeans and any type of platform shoe.

Getting out into the “real world” though can feel like it wants to squash your unique style. The style and clothes that light you up. This often stems from the narrative of having to “grow up” and getting a “real job.”

To that I say, what a boring way to be! Growing up doesn’t mean getting rid of your personality and style, but rather enhancing it. Truth be told, sitting pretty at 31 feels like I’m at my best and I’m only going to bet better with age. When I say better, I mean more me.

This outfit honors the unique style I’ve come into over the years. A style that sits at the crossroads of edgy and feminine, and leans toward the alternative. But guess what? I’m still playing with my clothes and having fun.

So don’t believe the people when they tell you to grow up and conform to a certain type of style, because you’ve got so much more to offer the world, and most importantly, yourself.
