Black is always in, period. Black is and will always be a go-to color for so many, especially the grunge and alt girls! It’s great to add color, but if you find yourself often reaching for black, why not go all in?
I love a monochromatic look, but especially a black monochromatic look! It gives off a “don’t mess with me” vibe that a girl just needs every once in a while.
The key to wearing all black that isn’t dull and boring though? Textures! Textures can make or break an all-black outfit. Black pieces without texture over other textureless clothes can make for a real boring fit. Add in a bit of texture to the same outfit and you’re in a whole new league!
Take a closer look at the outfit I’m wearing in this post, for example. I’m wearing a ribbed crop turtleneck, but over that I have a sheer lace top. I add more dimension by layering the sheer lace top over the turtleneck.
Then, I’ve got a black denim shirt followed by lace stockings. The denim and lace are contrasting textures and add to the overall look and feel as well.
Black is only boring if you let it, so layer up and have some fun with the different textures in your closet!
