Gone are the days when you had to store your winter clothes during the summer and your summer clothes during the winter! My mom still does this, but I never could get into this rhythm. I’ve always wanted unfettered access to my clothes year-round!
The best part is that you truly can wear your clothes year-round, with some adjustments. Well, you might have to store that parka in the summer, but you get the idea! The best hacks for wearing summer clothes in the winter? Layering and cold weather accessories. Fleece tights will be your new best friend, along with your long-sleeve shirts and tops. Start playing with what you’ve got in these two departments and you’ll be well on your way!
Use my outfit for today as inspiration. I’ve got a fun, very summery short dress that’s been winterized by fleece tights and a long-sleeve button-down top. Because this dress flares out a little, I only buttoned the first button. This creates a little drama while showing off the dress! Plus, I added a men’s tie as a bow for a little fun along with a grunge girl staple, brown Docs.

Frosty Air, Warm Body
Black Babydoll Dress: This is such a fun dress that I love wearing no matter the season! It’s a great option to dress up or down, too. I bought this at H&M back in the day, but if you’re looking for one just like it look no further!
Cream Button-Down Shirt: I’ll always be a big fan of having oversize button-down shirts around because they can be worn with nearly everything! Shirts like this really allow you to mix it up. I actually found the shirt I’m wearing at a garage sale I happened to pass several years ago, and it’s served me well ever since. In the market for one like this? I’ve got you covered!
Fleece Tights: Don’t do winter fashion without these! I promise you they’re 100% worth it. I sat on getting these viral tights for a LONG time, let me tell you. But I decided I was tired of freezing if I wanted to wear something other than pants in the winter, and it’s been a total game changer! Don’t be like me, get these tights while you’re thinking about it.
Brown Docs: These just might be my favorite shoes of all time. Funnily enough, they’re my first pair of Doc Martens, and they did not disappoint! I love the brown leather, and that they both zip and has a lace-up option. If you’re in the market for a great pair of combat boots or new Docs, this pair is the absolute best.
Men’s Neck Tie: I’ve really gotten into men’s ties as an accessory lately because it’s such a fun twist on an outfit! There are so many things you can do with a men’s tie, like making it into a cute bow! I thrifted this neck tie, but I’ve linked some other cute ties you can snatch up right now!
